Introduction to Allergic Diseases, Food Allergy, Food Allergy Safety Training, Basic and Practical Allergy
Learning Outcomes:
- Describe a range of different allergic diseases
- Understand the classification and causes of adverse reactions to food
- Recognise the symptoms and signs of food allergies
- Describe the difference between a food allergy and a food intolerance
- Appreciate the effects of food allergy on quality of life
- Describe the various tests and correct diagnosis of food allergy
- Conduct oral food challenges
- Advise patients on avoidance
- Describe the major allergens and
- Appreciate the sources of hidden allergens
- Understand the dangers of cross-contamination
- Recognise and manage allergic reactions
- Understand re-testing principles
- Appreciate the diagnosis and management cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA)
- Comprehend milk intolerance tests
